As some families from Lower Barton Creek migrated to the Upper Barton area, the Upper Barton colony, already expanding due to its own population growth, was running out of available farming land. "Quite simply, there is nowhere for Upper Barton Creek to expand, the occasional small parcel notwithstanding. With so many youth coming into age and young couples in need of land, it became necessary to purchase another large tract." -Nippert In 2011, the settlement of Bird Walk was established in the Belize District
As of 2017 Birdwalk had about 12 families.
