This road was cut in the 1930 British Museum archaeological expedition to transport several carved stelae 50km from the ancient Maya site of Pusilhá to the coastal town of Punta Gorda Town, where the monuments were then shipped to England (Morley 1938: Vol. IV:15; cited in Wanyerka 2009).[1]
