40th Street East was one of the first roads in Spanish Lookout, constructed sometime between 1958 to 1966. In 2023 it was decided to pave this road to reroute traffic out of downtown. The paving project was completed in September, involving smoothing the curve at the east end and paving the entire road with chipseal. In October of 2024 the Roundabout 3 was constructed at the western end.
