This street was constructed in the very first years of the community and only reached up to CB Machine and from there a trail led up north to Road 581.
By 1973 the street reached up to about the midpoint of modern day Road 585 but didn't connect to Settlement 87 yet. By 1990 the street connected to the Settlement 87 border.
The road was paved from the Road 23 junction to a little past Western Rebuilders on Road 276 in 2010.
A major street renaming in 2020 split the road into 3 segments, 20th Street West, Road 584 and Road 585. It also added an extra road that lined up with the 20th line but was not connected to the original 20th Street. And that extra road had been constructed in various segments from 1975 to 2021.
This street was named Route 20 West in 2001 and renamed to 20th Street West in 2020.
