This project was carried out by the Government of Belize with support from the Republic of China (Taiwan). Construction was coordinated by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Development and Housing and contracted to Teichroeb & Sons Ltd.^[1]

The project involved upgrading the road from a horrible gravel road to a standard 2 lane bituminous surface.^[2]

However the road was only paved for a short distance and remains unfinished as of 2026.^[3]
