Hopkins was founded in 1942, and was governed under the Alcalde system until 1969. It had 5 alcaldes during that time.[1]
A small hurricane shelter was constructed in 1963. [2] Commerce Bight was included in the 1980 census of Hopkins.[3]
Victor Lewis was the alcalde and James Nunez the deputy alcalde in 1963. [2]
