In early 1867 Marcus Canul captured Indian Church.[1] Maybe they mean Lamanai?
The modern Indian Church was formed in 1977, however Lamanai was already called Indian Church since the 1860s as it had Spanish colonial churches on site.[2]
The majority of the population arrived from Guatemala and some from El Salvador fleeing the civil wars in their homelands.[2]
The Indian Church Community Library was established in 2005.[3]
