Mennonites from Settlement 291 needed more land for farming, so they began a new colony in the Corozal District in 1978. They purchased 23,687 acres for $15.65 per acre. The first settlers moved to Little Belize in October of 1978.[3]
In 2006 a documentary of Mennonites in Belize was filmed with interviews of residents in Settlement 295, Settlement 151, Settlement 25, Settlement 291 and Little Belize.[4]
