Springfield is a small Hoover Mennonite settlement, founded in response to a land shortage in Upper Barton Creek. They do not use modern equipment, electricity or drive cars due to religious beliefs.^[1]

Springfield has family ties to Upper Barton Creek, Bird Walk and Roseville.

Springfield is known countrywide as having the best fruit trees in the country.
