# History By March 28, 2026 the Spanish Lookout Vorstehers had met with Dr. Elma Kay about the Tiger Sandy Bay land,[1] and at the community meeting of April 25, 2026 it was reported that she had offered to buy some of the land at Tiger Sandy Bay for the Wildlife Corridor.[2]
## Petroleum In 2026 an oil company showed interest in exploring for oil at Tiger Sandy Bay. The well site it identified fell on a tract of land under a stop order from the Department of the Environment, and drilling was not to start before the stop order was lifted. Spanish Lookout asked the company to hire local people to build the road and well site.[3] On August 29, 2026 it was reported that the Memorandum of Understanding with Baker Oil had been signed and that the petroleum pad was ready to be built, but more contractors from among Spanish Lookout's taxpayers were needed to build it.[4]
By June 2026 Spanish Lookout's road crews had dumped material on 1 mile of road in Tiger Sandy Bay.[3]
