This village was mentioned in the Government Gazette of 1963 as the village of Cieba. And it appears on the 1945 and 1955 DOS Map as Benque Ceiba. [1][2][3] The village was situated on the Belize River inside of the Duck Run estate.
Benque means river bank and Ceiba is a Cotton Tree. Thus the meaning is Cotton Tree Bank.
