This project was developed through the technical phase from 2023 to 2026 when on the ground implementation of the project began. The first phase of the project consisted of paving the main arteries through San Mateo, drainage and sidewalks for existing paved streets and for the newly paved streets, and expansion of Belize Water Services to areas that were not being served at that time yet and construction of a pedestrian bridge to connect San Mateo to San Juan across the Waterway 36.[1]
