Plettenberg is a neighbourhood in Settlement 295 straddling the boundaries of Settlement 364, Settlement 362 and Settlement 361. It is located on the western boundaries of Spanish Lookout.
Almon Plett was one of the first Mennonite pioneers to come to Spanish Lookout in 1958. He managed to create a large wealthy estate for himself. After his death on February 23, 2021 his estate was divided amongst his children and this village was created from a large chunk of his land. In August 2026 the village was named Plettenberg and a sign was established at the entrance to the village.
(Plett = Almon Plett) + (en = word filler) + (berg = German for hill)
Plettenberg is named after Almon Plett Plett and the many hills rising out of the flatlands.
