In 2001 Menno L Dueck donated 2 acres of land for a cemetery for Settlement 86.[1] But officially the land was never transferred from the Settlement 295 land title, so it is still a part of Spanish Lookout.[2]
Gnadenfeld School 1.0
At a community meeting on November 1, 1969, the construction of the Gnadenfeld School was planned.[3] The school was constructed of limestone bricks and wood flooring.
In 2003 the Hochfeld School was closed and the building moved here.
In 2019 the school was shut down and the wooden building from Hochfeld moved to the new Gnadenfeld School location. A new wooden structure was erected for the Deaf Church in the same location.
Hochfeld School
In 1984 an additional school was needed for Gnadenfeld. They decided to shut down the Jinney Creek School in Settlement 362 and moved that building here.[4]
In 2003 this school was split between Gnadenfeld School and Grünfeld School with the building being transferred to Gnadenfeld School.[5]
Gnadenfeld School 2.0
In May of 2019 the Hochfeld School building from Gnadenfeld School, the Grünfeld School building and a school building from Valley View were moved behind Gnadenfeld Church as the new location for the school. The old yard retained the original limestone brick building and a new structure was moved onto the old yard to serve as a church for the deaf.
The first cemetery in Spanish Lookout was situated at Mennonite Beach where the first settlers lived, but due to floods these graves were dug up and relocated to the Schoental Cemetery.
