Orange Walk used to be one of the main villages along the Belize River. It can be seen in a 1888 map in The Handbook of British Honduras 1888-89.[1]
From at least 1917[2] to 1918[3] Orange Walk had a catholic mission under Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, from Benque Viejo del Carmen Town. But by 1925 it was under the Church of the Sacred Heart, from El Cayo Town.[4]
