In 2012 a couple families from Settlement 296 and Settlement 151 moved to Settlement 217 to found a new settlement. But the new village was far from commercial centers making it hard to sell produce. So some families packed up and moved back north into the mountains founding the village of Mountain Valley Community in the Settlement 197 area.

Mountain Valley Community was purchased from the Bowman Estate and was mostly covered in neglected citrus trees at the time of purchase.^[1]

A flash flood occurred on June 11, 2026 that flooded the entire village from the adjacent Waterway 208. Neighbours assisted in rescuing the stranded villagers onto higher ground by transporting them across the waters in a small boat.^[2] Many gardens and livestock were swept away by the water.^[3]
